Speed sensor or Torque sensor?
Are you hesitant or unsure of what the difference is between a speed sensor and one torque sensor? Let us explain!
Speed sensor
This is a pedal assistance that works with the movement of the pedals: as soon as you start pedaling, you will feel the electric assistance propel you suddenly. It is only found on motors located at wheel level.
For example, a speed sensor will be very appreciated by a mountain bike enthusiast. The speed sensor provides the desired power to initiate solid starts on slopes or rocky terrain.
Torque sensor
This is a pedal assist that works with the movement of the pedals, but takes into account the pressure exerted on the pedal. This means that if you exert a slight pressure on your pedals at the start, the electric assistance will help you with equal value, resulting in a progressive and smooth start. You will not feel the big start push that a speed sensor offers.
The Torque sensor is automatically included on our electric bikes with a pedal motor, but it is also possible to find it on models with a wheel motor.
A Torque sensor will be appreciated by anyone wishing to enjoy a smooth and stable start.
